Transcript: How AIM Indianapolis Helped One Graduate Launch a Career at GE Aerospace

I started off playing music professionally when I was 13. I thought I鈥檇 be the next Stevie Ray Vaughan or Charlie Daniels. But music is a fickle business. I ended up driving our tour motorhome and realized I could drive 鈥 so I became a school bus driver for six and a half years.

Eventually I wanted more income and started asking around. A friend鈥檚 husband was a FedEx aircraft mechanic and asked if I鈥檇 ever considered aviation maintenance. I said, 鈥淗onestly, I don鈥檛 think I鈥檓 smart enough.鈥 He told me I might surprise myself.

Soon after, I heard a radio ad for AIM. I wrote the number down, called, and asked my friend鈥檚 husband to tour the campus with me. I didn鈥檛 know one aircraft from another, so I asked, 鈥淐an I learn what I need to here to be successful?鈥 He said yes鈥攁nd that was all I needed.

I signed up that day and started my education. I worked on the red plane in the hangar (which used to be yellow), and did lots of projects here. I made lifelong friends, not just classmates but instructors who helped me through tough projects and taught me things I鈥檇 never seen before.

This is where I earned my license. I still come back and feel at home. Without aviation, I wouldn鈥檛 be where I am now. In 2019, I graduated, got married, got a job at GE, and had my first child.

If it weren鈥檛 for AIM and the grace of God, I wouldn鈥檛 be sitting here wearing a GE Aerospace T-shirt, proud of where I work. But I still wear my AIM logo too鈥攂ecause that was the first step. Now I can provide for my wife, my two kids, and even our two puppies. I wouldn鈥檛 have our home or minivan or success without AIM. And I鈥檒l always be grateful for the 花季传媒.
