AIM Campus: Norfolk, VA

Norfolk is where we got our start; it’s home to the original AIM campus. We chose this city to begin setting the standard for aviation education,  and we couldn’t be prouder of what we continue to bring to the table.

About AIM’s Norfolk, VA Campus

Norfolk’s roots in aviation run deep. The city serves as the headquarters of the largest naval base in the world and a major hub for both commercial and cargo flights.

AIM landed in Norfolk in 1994, operating as Tidewater Tech next to Norfolk International Airport. Since then, we’ve continuously built and rebuilt our facilities—and moved to a larger location—to provide the best learning experience possible.

A Few Highlights

  • Hands-On Learning: Our space spans 70,000 square feet across 11 acres. Inside our engine room, airframe shop, and powerplant lab, you’ll learn how to repair and maintain turbine and reciprocating engines, aircraft components, electrical systems, and more. We also have two expansive hangars, where you can work on real airplanes, helicopters, and multi-engine aircraft.
  • Skilled Teachers: Many of our instructors are AIM alumni, and about half are military veterans. They bring years of real-world experience into the classroom, and they’re eager to share everything they know with the next generation of aviation professionals.
  • Community Engagement: Not only do we regularly host civic league and city meetings, but we frequently partner with local organizations that support underserved communities. This community outreach benefits our students as well, giving them the leadership and collaboration skills employers value most.

And thanks to our strong industry network, we’re able to connect you with some of the most diverse aviation opportunities in the country, from historic aircraft maintenance and commercial travel to military aeronautics and defense contracting.
